In a remarkable achievement, the Kalaburagi City Police successfully recovered and returned 200 lost and stolen mobile phones worth ₹38 lakh to their rightful owners. This milestone highlights the efficiency of technology-driven policing and the power of the KSP App’s e-Lost feature.
The recovery was part of an extensive operation led by the Cyber Economic and Narcotics Crime (CEN Crime) Police Station, utilizing data from complaints lodged on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and the KSP App.
How the Recovery Was Achieved
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanika Sikriwal, special teams were formed to track and recover missing phones across the district. The operation involved:
- Four teams led by Assistant Commissioners of Police Praveen H. Nayak, D.G. Rajanna, Santosh Banhatti, and Sudha Adi.
- A meticulous investigation to locate phones stolen during travel, misplaced on journeys, or snatched by offenders.
Impact of the Operation
Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa S.D. highlighted the success of this initiative, stating that 672 complaints of mobile theft had been received in the past. Of these:
- 472 cases were resolved earlier, with mobile phones returned in the first phase.
- The remaining 200 cases were cracked recently, with recovered phones handed over to their owners in a formal event.
The Role of the KSP App’s e-Lost Feature
The e-Lost feature of the KSP App has been instrumental in enabling citizens to report missing or stolen devices conveniently. By leveraging advanced tracking and complaint integration, the app ensures faster resolution of such cases, building trust between the police and the public.
A Milestone in Public Safety
This achievement showcases the transformative power of technology in modern policing. Citizens now have access to tools like the KSP App to report thefts and ensure timely recovery of their valuables.
